With the first day of the reddit blackout over, i have thoughts. okay, not that many, but still a few.

instagram is a great time skink, like, it's really truly so effective, maybe too effective actually. the only thing is that... it's FULL OF SPOILERS. FOR EVERYTHING. they're all right there on the discover page jesus christ it was the first thing i saw. the only way to avoid spoilers for stuff is to stick exclusively to reels and swipe away the moment i detect even the hint of a spoiler, but i still saw stuff for games i'm playing and movies... :(

i'm trying out squabbles.io and its... pretty neat. still small, but fun. i like it over the other alternatives that i've seen because it looks quite neat visually speaking, truly like a combination of reddit and twitter, and it feels super intuitive to use. i don't need a whole ass migration tutorial unlike for stuff like kbin or the lemmyverse or whatever, you really can just figure it out in a couple of clicks. the only downside is that its so small and new they don't even have proper moderation yet, but i know that's something that's actively being worked on. speaking of, another nice thing is watching in real-time as new stuff is implemented and the growth of the whole place, its quite neat.

i'm going to try to stay off reddit for at least until the 14th, maybe even after. i already joined discords for the communities i wanted to keep tabs on so that staying updated wouldn't be an issue. we shall see.
