Everything about the first game was surprisingly amazing: art, story, gameplay, I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel.
I actually didn't get the game when it first came out because, even though I heard a lot of good things about it, it was a rouge-like, and I'm an easily-frustrated player. The idea of an infinite loop game where things just kept getting harder and you had to start over if you died sounded like actual hell to me, so I had decided to skip it. Luckily, I caught some gameplay on twitch at some point and that + all the wonderful reviews I kept seeing about the game gave me the push I needed to finally try it (it helps that it was also on sale at the time, not going to lie), and I'm super glad I did.
The game is hard, yes, but it's also very rewarding? Like, even losing feels like making progress, which is what I like about the game. It's not like those games designed to be frustrating (looking at you, Jump King), it's designed to make you want to keep going after experiencing setbacks. It also helped that the story was so damn interesting I kept wanting to go back to see what new dialogue I'd unlocked. Plus, the voice acting was *chefs kiss* and the soundtrack was also divine (heh). I see why it got so much hype when it first came out, and now I am also super hyped for what comes next!
Trailer thoughts: The main character this time is Melinoe, Zagreus' sister. I know they messed a bit with both of their parentages to make it fit into game lore (I think in the "original" myths they're persephone + zeus' children?? but idk enough about greek mythology), so I'm really excited for even more reveals concerning the underworld family. I also saw NEW GODS. Moros (who tbh i don't recognise from my limited knowledge of mythology), Apollo, Nemesis, Kronos (that was the guy chained up right??). Now my questions: Is kronos gonna be related to hades? they have the same style of beard lol, but kronos' is white. In the mythos, Kronos is one of the titans, are we gonna see end-of-the-world titan fuckery??!!! I'm excited. It's like PJO all over again haha.
Also, how long after Hades is this sequel set? Where is Zagreus? Is Melinoe his younger sister, and if so, did she come about after the events of Hades I? I think I saw somewhere that Hades II is a direct sequel, so I'm really interested in seeing just what has happened since we last saw the underworld.
Lastly, I'm excited for MORE ART and whatever updates/changes there are to the gameplay mechanics. I'm just excited for everything in general, can't wait to see more info about this game.
