So many podcasts that I'll probably forget at least a few, but I went on a detective-genre listening spree so mainly that

Started Listening to:

Describe Your Kill - The Death of Destiny [Actual Play - Pathfinder][Fantasy]
I only started this one bc it was advertised on the Glass Cannon reddit and tbh I didn't really have any expectations but uhhh I'm like 10 eps in and I love it? The guys are both so goofy yet taking the RP in some interesting places and I'm really invested in the story and the characters rn. I don't know anything about PF's harrow system so learning this has been super interesting, as has been just jumping into the start of an adventure following level 11 characters from the very beginning??? Definitely glad I started listening to it, it takes a special flavour of pf/dnd actual play pod to hook me in and I gotta give it to these guys they honestly had me from character creation, def continuing on with this one.

World Gone Wrong [Supernatural][Comedy]
I started listening to this one because of Yuletide and 10/10 would recommend. Jamie and Malik are such millennials but like in the best way possible does that make sense? It's just such a fun podcast and the shenanigans are so whacky I love it. My favourite episode is when the world collectively forgot what a pizza is omg. I also appreciate the slow development of the conflict between the friends, like, it doesn't feel drawn out it feels real. Anyway I'm caught up and continue to catch up every ep drop hehe.

A Man Called Stranger [Neon Noir][Magitech]
Oooooh I found this by pure coincidence and I love it???? So much??? I love Stranger and his narration and the world and the characters and everything lmao, it's just so fun, honestly hits on all the things I love about like noir and cyberpunk and ugh. Really looking forward to learning more about Stranger and where he comes from... Only bad thing is that it's such a new, small production that the only fandom seems to be the discord server with less than 70 members?!?! goddamnit.

Yokai Detective Agency (Darkness Falls) [Noir][Supernatural]
Another I found by complete coincidence (ok I was searching through the noir tag--i mean that as not a rec) and it's fun! Idk I like the vibes and the combo of like supernatural and mythological stuff from different cultures (not gonna lie i died when the literal kumiho had to perform an honest to god catholic exorcism it was so wild XD) and the hint of a big bad plot they're gonna have to put a stop to. Also gonna be super honest the way they introduce the characters when outside of Ren and Akashi's POV is a little confusing as is the actual plot rn but i think it's all coming together so it's mostly fine, I just wish they would stick more to the detectives' POV because I love them so much and I want to hear the story from their perspective ;-;

Woodbine [Supernatural][Detective]
WAAAH OMG IN LOVE WITH THESE VAMPIRES. I was a little reluctant to listen to this one mainly because it took over the Parkdale Haunt feed and I was like huh??? what the f is this?? But then I actually put it on and OMG dare I say I like this one more than parkdale??? Love love love the characters and I am such a sucker for like PI stuff so when you combine that with vampires (I've been on a vampire roll since I listened to Port Saga sue me) it's just a recipe for absolute wonderful shit. Truly cannot get enough of this one 100/10.

Audio Mystery Theatre [Anthology][Queer]
Ok so there's a lot of stuff here but I'm mainly sticking around for Felix Stone xdd. I mean, the noir stories of a gay PI in the fifties??? Yes please. He's such an insufferable twat I love him. DS Billings is good too so I'm also subscribed to the DS Billings Mysteries feed (which is mainly just reuploads of the billings stories in their own place), I've never listened to much victorian-themed stories outside of Sherlock Holmes so spending time with it has been fun and makes me want to read other stuff in the time period xdd (I have a collection of MR James stories just calling out to me...) Still, my true love is Felix Stone and I'm just waiting for another one of his stories to drop, but they also have some pretty neat standalone ones like Estranged and The Story of Agnes Braitman (they really like their gays tortured and very morally grey huh... me too tbh).

KIND [Noir][Crime/Detective][Queer]
I was a little intimidated when I saw a 1 hour long PROLOGUE so I put this one off for a bit but when I actually took the plunge and started listening in earnest I LOVED IT. Holy shit not even halfway through this one and I can already tell it's going to be a favourite. The production is amazing I love the characters I love the drama and i'm so invested in the plot hahah. What's not to love about a mysterious serial killer moonlighting as an orphanage worker and the dogged detectives trying to track him down?? also the detectives are dating??? and they live in a mega corrupt city??? also the serial killer has a very sweet husband who is definitely not in a lot of danger and totally not going to get killed one day due to his actions lmao.

The Book of Constellations [Sci-fi]
When I finished the Love Talker I wanted to see what else W. Keith Tims had done and this one sounded nice. Definitely a whole different vibe from the horror but I really like it too, its like feel good but in a funny way because its just sad and lost people coming together to help the alien(??) fight the darkness that is taking root in the world and making a little light wherever they can.

Blake Skye: Private Eye [Noir][Supernatural]
Another one I listened on my quest to find more queer noirs lmao. I'm pretty early on but it's been really fun so far, the characters are endearing and I'm really loving all the lovecraftian influences in the supernatural aspect of the plot.

Aggie McPherson Mysteries [Supernatural][Detective]
Ok this one came up when I was looking for podcasts tagged as noirs and it was also labeled "lesbian" for some reason??? lmao. I mean there's definitely something fruity about Aggie ngl but the focus is really on her investigations so idk why that was the genre tag they went with... anyway. This one is just straight up a dude reading his short stories in one take with no soundscaping, just the intro and outro song (which is real catchy) and then just rawdogging the story in one take it feels like (if not there are definitely moments that could have been cleaned up) but I find myself really liking it lol. Like, I kind of love the character of Aggie and just hearing about her cases and the people she meets. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the genre who knows. Anyway I hope the dude continues putting these out bc the last one came out July 2024 and I miss Aggie already ;-;

Updates:

DASH
Omg they released a new miniseason in anticipation for season 2???!!!!!! It was about Plink from the not-so-distant-past and it was great!! Knowing him was so fun and so sad considering what happened to him in season 1 but apparently he's coming back??? please please please I need them to be happy ;-;

WOE.BEGONE
Continues breaking my brain and my heart even 128 episodes in. Will I ever catch up? only time can tell (time is a liar)

Midnight Burger
I finally caught up to releases and the 1 month wait between eps is excruciating lmao, but still it's worth it for such a wonderful piece of audio.

Læce/Leech
Halfway through season 2 and holy shit these guys do not mess around when it comes to RP xdd. I usually don't bother with BTS stuff but I'm really tempted to see if I can track down the streams they did for after the episodes??? Maybe?? Either way I think I have been ruined when it comes to V:TM actual plays haha (still have a few on my list I wanna give a try tho)
