New to me (that I can remember):
Underwood and Flinch: A Vampire Saga [Supernatural][Mystery?]
Ok so I'm still in my vampire era, what can I say? Very fun audiobook about a man unprepared to serve an ancient vampire and said ancient vampire learning a little bit about how much the world has changed in the past fifty years. (The first season at least, everything after that is... a different beast altogether. Still very fun! But we're a long way from where we started, sort of) Also, for a podcast called Underwood and Flinch, there is a frustratingly little amount of Underwood and Flinch (but especially Underwood) in the story at the same time!!! I understand why the narrative veers off into different POVs and even enjoy most of them but I just want another season like that short story with Underwood and the first Flinch surviving the pirates when Underwood was first turned? Can't we just have a short stint of the David and Underwood adventures in literally wherever? At this point freaking Damo has had more screentime than Underwood and that guy was a side side character that got turned into a vampire like last week! Still, I'm honestly kind of impressed by how much I've grown to like the "side" characters (which have grown to be just secondary main characters tbh). I thought they'd just be throwaway fodder but I find myself looking forward to what Cynthia and Gerald are getting up to lmao.
Not a Drop to Drink [Actual play - V:tM][Supernatural]
Ok so I was recommended this one and I'm so glad because I don't think I would have found it on my own! The V:tM campaign is buried in the Dice Friends feed along their other thousands actual plays (at least in the podcast version) but honestly it deserves its own, its so good! Definitely a different vibe from the other Vampire actual plays I've listened to so far but the group is fantastic and when they get going they get going. Actually kind of loved the fact most of them were new to the game because seeing their perspectives made things kind of interesting. Anyway I binged this one it was so fun.
MERCY [Western][Supernatural]
Ok, my feelings on this one are kind of mixed... I wanted to love it, but I think Western just isn't my genre unfortunately. Idk. I love the eldritch twist and the unfolding mystery, and the horror aspect of the world and the slow discoveries are really well done, but the thing as a whole just isn't clicking for me I think. I don't particularly like the main characters either and I don't know if its because I don't like the setting or I actually don't like the characters and the setting makes it worse? I want to give it a chance seeing as I'm only on episode 3 of 6 (so far) and I have a feeling that things are just picking up but I also can't be bothered to listen to another episode??? Which is just sad because I loved KIND and I really wanted to like this group's new project :C
Superman: Son of El [Superheroes]
Ok so I don't know shit about Superman or DC and I have no idea why I started listening to this one but I love it so much! Like damn!! I was not expecting that. I wasn't expecting superman to be such a sweet sweet boy and I definitely wasn't expecting to get as attached to the other superheroes' stories as I did?? Like i actually cried during that whole bit with Alfred's last days and Sups helping Batman take care of him... And I have learnt more DC lore in the few weeks I've been listening to this than I ever learnt in my whole life lmao.
Batman: Desenterrado [Superheroes]
Ok so I didn't purposefully go looking for another superhero podcast after Son of El but when I saw that Alfonso Herrera had voiced Batman in the Spanish version of Batman: Unburied I couldn't say no!! And it was really fun actually!! Again, barely know anything about Batman lore so I was really confused for a hot minute there but everything came together in the end and I really enjoyedAlfonso Herrera's performance the show :D. I hope hope hope they do the second season in Spanish as well because I simply refuse to listen to the English version now sorry. Give me back my Bruno Díaz please and thank you.
