Been pretty quiet lately, I've been gaming more than I've been reading lol. Still, I got a few things to talk about.

What I started:

The Beauty's Blade / 美人剑 by 封刃作书

It's a short one, but I haven't finished it yet :p I'm quite liking it so far though, the MC is really fun and I'm loving her slightly evil side haha, and I really like the aloof, powerful FL. As always, I'm a sucker for righteous cultivator x demonic cultivator dynamics so I'm definitely gonna try getting further along with this one before I get distracted with something else again.

The Abandoned Son Runs Rampant / 穿越之弃子横行 by 叶忆落

Lol I have no idea how I ploughed through 120 chapters in a week but here we are, it's just an easy novel to read lmao. Very much a 'turn your brain off and watch the dumb shameless talented MC breeze through challenge after challenge while baffling everyone around him'. I wish a bit more thought had been put into his relationship with the ML, it just sort of feels like the MC stuck around for so long that the ML just went 'welp, i guess he's really not leaving so I might as well marry him', there were a few moments where I saw hints of character development but they were quickly glossed over as the focus was once again diverted to whatever outrageous shit the MC was doing again. I think the TLer dropped it at the end of the 1st arc but tbh idk if I'm gonna try finishing it with MTL. We'll see if I'm still interested by the time I reach the cutoff point.

I Became the White Moonlight's Human Weapon After My Death / 死後成了白月光的人形武器 by 十字卿

I realised a long time ago that my favourite genre of entertainment is 'crime drama with a twist'. For example, crime drama but with ghosts, crime drama but with superpowers, crime drama but with time travel, etc. So when an author I was already familiar with dropped this novel, i was fucking GAME. The novel itself only has around 20 chapters so far, and I've only read like 15 of them, but damn, it's good. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the character's dynamics develop and learning more about them, especially since like half the cast so far is already dead (but they're kind of alive? i also wanna know wtf is up with that), and the worldbuilding is looking very interesting. It's giving me Psychopass vibes, but also not quite.

What I finished:

The General’s Manor Young Concubine Survival Report / 将军府小妾生存报告 by 风的铃铛

Short, funny, and sweet. MC tries to survive after being transmigrated into an unknown ancient setting, and soon discovers that her meal ticket is in following the FL, but then she actually falls in love with her?! The MC is quite silly and a little clueless, but not to the point that it becomes annoying, and unlike her initial impression, the FL is quite a nice, reasonable character as well. Really enjoyed it overall, the chapters flew by but in a good way, not just because the novel was short. 8.5/10

Mistress, I Want It~ / 家主,我想要嘛~ by 也许陌生了

I am going to try to not go into a rant here but FUUUUUDGE this was so annoying AGH. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with BE stories but this one just felt so... undeserved? unnecessary? And weirdly confusing? Actually, I don't even know if it was a BE, when I reached the final chapter I was mostly left with a sense of 'uh, is that... a bad thing? a good thing? are they getting a do-over?', it's left open in such a way that I just didn't know how to interpret it? Like yes, the MC fucked up in her first life or whatever but she was trying to make up for it in her initial do-over (don't ask me what happened in that bit in the middle with the life death flower i have no fucking clue), but the FL was... unnecessarily antagonistic? Like, she was fine at first, but then the flower fuckery happened and she switched? (like, i think she actually switched with her past self? idk maybe i missed something but that particular plot point was very confusing for me), and then she just shat all over the MC's attempt at like making amends and they both died depressed and filled with regret. Except they didn't really? because of that last chapter? which actually made it seem like they would be trapped on an endless cycle of unrequited love and betrayal? Idk, all I know is that it frustrated and confused me, which sucks because the first half of the novel was actually pretty good. 5/10
