Continuing actions with -下去

elidelioThis is another one of those grammar rules that I always just sort of glossed over until I actually looked it up, then everything clicked.
The -xiàqù complement is used for an action that is continuing/carrying on.
説下去。Keep talking.
這本書你一定要認真地看下去。You must carefully keep reading this book.
It can also be used in the negative:
For something that can't keep continuing.
這會兒都看不下去了。Can't continue watching at this moment.
這個故事太無聊了，我聼不下去了。This story is too boring, I can't keep listening.
When used with 再, it turns into a repeated continuation:
你再喝下去就醉了。You'll get drunk if you keep on drinking. (If you keep on continuing to drink, you'll get drunk.)
I got a little lazy with the examples there (just copy-pasted from here lol) but this is just one of those things that is pretty straightforward once you see the rule actually in place.
